Description
Oxycontin OP 60 mg is the time-release version of oxycodone that belongs to opioid analgesic drugs which is used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain in patients with cancer. This product is not used to treat mild pain and is supplied with different strengths for oral use. The red, round, convex tablet with the imprint “OP” on one side and “60” on the other is identified as Oxycontin OP 60 mg. This drug contains an active ingredient: oxycodone hydrochloride, polysorbate 80, and FD&C Red No. 40 Aluminum Lake. It also contains 54 mg of oxycodone and 60 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride. This medicine is for use in opioid-tolerant patients only because they will require an increased dosage of Oxycontin tablets, using the different tablet strengths to achieve pain relief. In addition, a single daily dose greater than 60 mg may lead to overdose and death. As a result, the dosage is dependent on the severity of the pain.
