Valium is classified as a Schedule IV Controlled substance under the Controlled Substance Act (CSA) whose generic name is Diazepam. It is a prescribed medication used for the treatment of anxiety, seizures, muscle spasms, and alcohol withdrawal that belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines. The biggest benefit of Valium is that it provides sedation before medical procedures and it works by calming the brain and nerves to help control anxiety. It also works quickly and lasts longer than some other benzodiazepines as well as it can be given to children as young as 6 months. This product is available as a tablet, liquid, and an injection that is given by health specialists. This product is available in tablet and solution dosage forms that are supplied only with your doctor’s prescription. However, you should not drink alcohol while taking Valium because it can slow down your brain’s activity and interfere with your judgment, thinking, etc. Also, this medicine is not meant to be taken long-term (more than 4 months) because it may cause abuse and addiction.
