You consult your doctor and tell them about your problem, and then your healthcare directs you about the dosage and how to take the medication. The higher strengths of this drug should be used only if you’re taking the medication regularly and large amounts of opioid pain medication. Taking a higher dosage of oxycontin may cause addiction and overdose may cause death. This medication is not for occasional (as-needed) use. This is only if you’re suffering from moderate pain such as cancer. Talk to your doctor read their instruction properly and follow them as your doctor tells you to do. Take this medication on a regular schedule as directed by your doctor, not as needed for sudden (breakthrough) pain. Take this drug with or without food, usually every 12 hours. If you have nausea, it may help to take this drug with food.
