Oxycontin OC 60 mg is a prescribed medicine indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pain in patients with cancer and post-operative pain. This medicine belongs to a class of drugs known as opioid analgesics with the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) code N02AA05. It works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain but it is not used to treat pain that you only have once in a while. Oxycontin tablets are for oral use and are supplied in different strengths. The Oxycontin OC 60 mg tablets are red, round, convex tablets with the imprint “OC” on one side and “60” on the other. This drug contains an active ingredient: oxycodone hydrochloride which is not known if Oxycontin 60 mg is safe and effective in children younger than 18 years. It also contains polysorbate 80 and FD&C Red No. 40 Aluminum Lake. Do not take OxyContin 60 mg tablets in one dose unless you are “opioid tolerant” because this may cause you to stop breathing and may lead to death.
