Description
Oxycontin OP 20 mg is classified as a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) which includes cocaine and methamphetamine. This medicine contains oxycodone which belongs to a class of medicines called opioids, which are pain relievers that are used when an opioid medicine is needed to manage. It is a prescribed medicine and it should not be given to anyone else without a doctor’s prescription. Oxycontin tablet is available in different strengths imprinted with the letters OP on one side and the number of milligrams on the opposite side of the tablet, i.e., the pink, round, convex Oxycontin OP 20 mg tablets are, imprinted with “OP” on one side and “20” on the other. It contains 18.0 mg of oxycodone, 20 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride, polysorbate 80, and red iron oxide. The usual starting dose for opioid patients is 10 mg or 20 mg which should be taken at 12-hour intervals to reduce the high risk of having side effects like headache, restlessness, aggression, drug dependence, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, nervousness, dry skin, dry mouth, etc.
